Richmond International British School first opened in September 2013 and provides a learner-centred education to students from 2 to 18 years of age. Our recent expansion to include the Pre-Nursery phase makes Richmond the only licensed international pre-school in the Garraf area.
The school occupies a spacious building between Vilanova i la Geltru and Sitges. The interior is designed to promote the ethos shared by the students and staff, with open classrooms and communal areas that are enjoyed by all. Our students are encouraged to adopt the “5 R’s” that make up our school’s behavioural values; at Richmond we aspire to be resourceful, respectful, reflective, resilient and responsible.
The range of nationalities represented at Richmond nurtures a global attitude, respecting all those who constitute the Richmond “family”, while promoting the British values which unite our school community. Our class sizes contain an average of 15 students, which supports our commitment to delivering a personalised education. Each of our learners is unique; their rhythm of development and progress is valued and respected.
Our UK-qualified teaching team deliver the full National Curriculum for England and Wales in every phase. Our students complete external examinations at both G.C.S.E and A level. We are a fully registered and licensed Edexcel examinations centre, as well as by the Spanish Ministry and Catalan department for Education, meaning we have the ability to “convalidate” our students’ education within Spain and across the globe.
We have a dedication to life-long learning and improvement. Our world is changing, and we believe the education we provide should reflect that. Consequently, we continue to redesign and redefine our curriculum, adopting a thematic approach that aims to link aspects of learning together in a way that is meaningful and sparks interest.
Our programme of studies embrace enquiry-based learning practices that foster the acquisition and development of transferable “soft skills” (such as creativity, cognition, and adaptation) which are believed to become most-valued by industry by 2030.
We offer a lively and varied extra-curricular agenda that includes a range of activities on-site and in the wider locality. This includes our after-school clubs, Enrichment programme, and annual calendar of excursions.
We also have great links back into the community, meaning that our students not only shine in our school environment but are prepared to be confident and thrive outside our walls! All of this, and more, makes Richmond an award-winning school, for award-winning students!
