The National Association of British Schools in Spain (NABSS) is thrilled to announce the launch of its 2025–2026 Speech Competition, a celebration of creativity and global thinking inspired by this year’s conference theme, Learning Without Borders.
The NABSS community comes together to champion student voice and celebrate the spirit of British education in Spain. This year’s theme invites students to reflect on what it truly means to learn without boundaries to think beyond classrooms, cultures, and conventions, and to share their vision of learning in an interconnected world.
Open to all NABSS member schools, the competition welcomes entries from three age groups. Upper Key Stage 2, Secondary, and Post-16. Schools are encouraged to host their own internal competitions, giving students the chance to showcase their ideas and passion for learning before selecting one finalist in each category.
Each finalist will prepare a short speech, lasting between three and five minutes, expressing their personal interpretation of “Learning Without Borders”. This is an individual competition, designed to highlight each student’s voice, originality, and confidence.
To ensure fairness and consistency, all speeches should be recorded against a plain white or black background, with no school uniforms or identifying features visible. A signed Data Protection and Image Consent form must accompany each entry.
The winners will receive special recognition from NABSS and their schools, along with prestigious awards celebrating their achievement. They will also have the honour of presenting their speeches at the NABSS Annual Conference in Sitges on 6 March 2026, either in person or virtually, a wonderful opportunity to share their ideas with educators from across Spain.
The NABSS Speech Competition continues to be a highlight of the academic year, offering young people a platform to express their ideas, share their perspectives, and develop the confidence to communicate on a global stage.
Let’s celebrate the creativity, curiosity, and courage of our students as they explore what it means to truly learn without borders.
